Community events set to impress

Lynd1 (1)The shows are drawing closer – and so are the associated community events! We can’t believe that the Festival opens in only one week.

A reminder that the community suppers being hosted at The Opinicon before the April Verch shows at the Chaffey’s Lock Community Hall are exclusively for Festival of Small Halls ticket holders.

These dinners are a special pre-show buffet at The Opinicon on Wednesday, Sept 14 and Thursday, Sept. 15, beginning at 5 p.m. The buffet dinner for Festival ticket holders will be offered in the Garden Room at The Opinicon at 1697 Chaffey’s Lock Road. It is $32/person – and reservations are required by phone at 613.359.5233 no later than this Friday, Sept. 9!

Beckwith Show – Thursday Sept.15 – Stonefields Community Dinner – Beginning at 6:00PM, the folks at Stonefields will be offering a BBQ family style community dinner before the show! Tickets are $20+HST. Reservations required by email at or my phone at 613-253-3313.

Morton Show – Sunday Sept.18 – Wendy’s Country Market – Beginning at 11:00AM, take in Wendy’s Country Market before the April Verch Band matinee concert at the Morton Community Hall.  The market is located at 408 Fortune Line Road in Lyndhurst, Ontario. For more info please visit

Spencerville Show – Thursday Sept. 22 – Tapas by Zolas – The Spencerville Mill is excited to partner with Zolas Restaurant to present TAPAS BY ZOLAS.  From 5:30PM-7:00PM, Zolas will kick off the evening with a delicious modern Italian cuisine served tapas style. Only $17.50 per person. Don’t miss out, get your tickets in advance in person at the Spencerville Mill or online at Located in west-end Ottawa, Zolas offers its clients an experience in modern Italian cuisine in a relaxed, tasteful surroundings.

Winchester Show – Thursday Sept.22 – Beginning at 5:00PM until 7:00PM, the St. Paul Presbyterian Church will be holding their annual Turkey Dinner before the show (510 Main St. Winchester, ON). Dinner includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, baked beans, vegetables, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Tickets are $12 and are available at the door only.

Delta Show – Friday Sept.23 – Delta Old Town Hall Dinner – Beginning at 6:00PM, a community buffet dinner will be served at the Delta Old Town Hall before the show.  Vegetarian options available. Dessert included. Tickets are $12. Reservations required by email at

McDonald’s Corners Show – Friday Sept. 30 – McDonald’s Corners Agricultural Hall Dinner – Beginning at 6:00PM, a community supper will be held at the Ag Hall before the show. Tickets are $15. Reservations required by phone at (613) 259-3480.

Lyndhurst Show – Friday Sept. 30 – St.Luke’s Anglican Church Hall Dinner (459 Lyndhurst Rd, Lyndhurst) – Beginning at 5:00PM, a chicken dinner will be held before the show at St.Luke’s Anglican Church Hall.  Please keep in mind, the dinner venue is a short drive from the concert venue.  Tickets are $15 – the price includes dessert. Tickets must be purchased or reserved in advance and are available at St. Luke’s Thrift Shop (459 Lyndhurst Rd), and The Green Gecko (436 Lyndhurst Rd), or reserved by phone at 613.507.3311

Burritt’s Rapids Show – Sunday Oct.2 – Burritt’s Rapids Community Hall Activities! Before the show begins at 3 p.m., there will be free outdoor fun around the village, including a treasure scavenger hunt, local geocaching, cycling and more. Staring at 1:30 p.m., there will also be a free architectural walk taking place with the Village Doyennes. Food vendors will be on site both before and after the show, and after the show from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a free Ceilidh event!
