That’s a wrap, folks!
The Ontario Festival of Small Halls is over for this year – and what a three weeks it was!
So many memorable moments. So many standing ovations and encores for amazing artists. So many beautiful halls, decked out to set the perfect backdrop for our international and nationally-renowned musicians. So much community togetherness… so much good food!
This festival fostered feelings of kinship and warm emotion, knowing that we all shared something special. It’s exactly what the small halls on the schedule were designed to do – gather people together to celebrate and strengthen the bond of community.
With that in mind, we extend an enormous thank you to the dedicated volunteers at each small hall who worked hard to make it all possible. You’re such an integral part of the Festival’s success and we hope that the hosting experience will resonate in your communities.
Much appreciation is also extended to Algonquin College for its never-ending support of Ontario Festival of Small Halls.
Also a shout out to Beau’s for partnering with us this year to offer its delicious refreshment at some of the shows.
The artists certainly enjoyed every minute of the Festival, too! We are getting wonderful feedback from all of our musicians – they loved being welcomed whole-heartedly into your cherished spaces. Some even posted online about how much they enjoyed their small hall experiences, including Darlingside, Matthew Byrne, April Verch, Hat Fitz & Cara and more.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue posting photos of memorable moments on our social media channels, so make sure you follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We’ll also be releasing our wrap-up video shortly – stay tuned! You might see your own small hall showcased.
Thank you. Two small words that somehow don’t seem adequate; small words about small halls. We hope you’ll dig deeper into those words to see how much gratitude and optimism we’re feeling about the Ontario Festival of Small Halls. We’re looking forward to next year already!
